Mechanical Breakdown Insurance for 2nd hand car? ?

A lot of garages offer this on 2nd-hand cars.

NB – this is not regular Motor Insurance – it is specifically to cover the risk of Mechanical Breakdown.

A./ Is it worth forking out approx £1000 for 3 years cover (capped at £1000 per claim and subject to an excess)

B./ Does anyone have any experience of making a claim under this insurance?

    Almost never worth the money.Don’t do it.

    i don,t think i would do it on a used car. some places when you buy a used car they offer a 90 day warranty.
